Bluemoon equestrian centre is a one of a kind establishment in Midrand. Having said this we are far enough in the country for the noise, hustle and bustle of city life to fade completely into the back ground.
Once through the gate the happy and friendly herd of horse and our staff make for a one of a kind experience with the most commonly heard comment from new comers being "I feel so at home here so at peace!"
Why is that? Well truly I believe it is because it is a place that is completely none judgemental where anything that you are, were, or wish to be is taken seriously. The one thing that is stressed is that you cannot change the past, you have not written the future and that the present is called that as it truly is a gift. To live it to the full and get the most out of it we need to take a leaf out of the horse’s book and be transient. Accepting each situation and emotion as it happens and then move on to the next one with no regrets. This is the motto that has lead to the success and growth that Bluemoon Equestrian Centre is experiencing.
The client base ranges from young children through to our older clientele in their fifties. We teach from novice riders through to advanced, in dressage, show jumping, three day eventing and pleasure riding. We also specialise in equine facilitated physiotherapy and psychotherapy. While physiotherapy is an area that has received much coverage here and over the rest of the world, with the benefits being exceedingly documented over years. To psychotherapy which is fairly new to South Africa. Much research has been done in other countries but here we are treading new ground and leading the field so to speak.
While each is a field in itself Bluemoon combines all of the above to give each client the best teaching and support that they can. We tailor each lesson to the individual taking into account the mental, emotional, and physical development of each individual when we look at the training schedule. In short all are welcome at Bluemoon and are openly encouraged to explore the grounds, the stunning and exhilarating out-rides and the herd of horses. All of who have been trained by myself and adapt themselves to the needs of the various riders.
At Bluemoon the horse is always put first with their needs and comforts coming long before those of the humans. Not only are they spoilt rotten by riders and staff alike but their emotional wellbeing is considered as much as their physical needs and in light of this they are kept in as natural state as possible with a large herd paddocks and plenty of space to play and be horses. Unlike most yards our guys and girl are out all day and only come in when the weather is extreme - Their preference as shelter is always available and we also consider them when choosing a mount for the rider. This is due to the fact that they also have bad days or days where they are just not in the mood to work or deal with us. In light of this we let the horses choose who is being used in the lessons and therapy sessions on that day. In regards to this out look and approach we have had a great success not just with riders but with horses that have physical and emotional issues.
All in all Bluemoon is a happy and exciting place to be where horses and riders are encouraged to reach for the stars and astound with all that they are capable of with unconditional love, acceptance and encouragement in all endeavours.
